Dean Bower 5pts Bought my first Firebird in 71, A Formula 400/4sp./3:73 posi. I had ordered a 71 Formula 350 but the factory was on strike andI never got it. In those days the Firebird had more suspension options than the Camaros and I liked its styling better. Thru the years I have the pleasure of owning a 67/400/4sp./4:56, 69/400/4sp, the afore mentioned 71, 2 1975 TA's, a 93 SLP Firehawk, and my current ride, a 78 Formula with a Chevy 427/M-22 4sp./3:42. I realize that the Chevy engine may raise some ire, but there is a story here. In 1967 a friend took me for a ride in his 66 427 Corvette which he had purchased from Nickey Chevrolet in Chicago. I had never before or after been in anything with that much power. When I had ordered my 71 Formula 350 it was with the intention of installing a big block in it. Some time ago as I was coming in from the garage I said to my wife, "it took me over 40 years to do it, but I finally got my big block Firebird." I have been a gearhead all my life and have had many toys through my life including GTO's and Corvettes, but enjoyed nothing as much as my Firebirds.
