2007 POCI Convention

Lou Callasibetta's '57 "Surfari" Transcontinental Safari station wagon took the Post War Best of Show Award. The mild custom featured many tasteful touches, yet still remained true to the original design. Lou runs The Old Stillwater Garage in Stillwater, New Jersey, and has turned out some spectacular vehicles. This is the second year in a row that he has won both this award and the Glenn Kooyer Memorial Award. Congratulations to Lou for a job well done.

POCI President Verne Howard set up two Can Am Reunions, the first at the POCI Convention and the second at the Ames Performance Pontiac Nationals. Nine examples of the rare breed were displayed in Tulsa.

Jim Cohen, of Ozark, Missouri, did the All-American Oakland Chapter proud by bringing home the Pre War Best of Show Award. His 1911 Oakland Touring Car runs as good as it looks and is seen here driving off with Jim behind the wheel. Congratulations!

The Tulsa County Sheriff's Department displayed its own '69 Firebird custom, which sported a rare Mickey Thompson crossram intake.

Arnie "The Farmer" Beswick poses with two of his grandchildren and his '64 "Tameless Tiger II" GTO. Arnie had a display outside of the Crown Plaza Hotel.

You never know what you might find at a POCI Convention swap meet. Here is a '66 long-wheelbase Bonneville hearse used for parts hauling. Lower-cost versions used the standard wheelbase, making for a top-heavy look.
