But we sure can't count out the other classes to provide the exciting entertainment the racers and the crowd came to see. Super Pro brought a first time win to Larry Cooper, Jr. Larry, a pilot for the US Navy, said the G-force with his rail is similar to being catapulted off an aircraft carrier. Danny Estep from Royalton, IL won second in Super-pro. Chris Shenuk won Pro with his second car which was a '72 Firebird. Charley Schmidt from Sullivan, MO won second with his '66 Pontiac GTO with a 455. Joe Camp from Waterloo, IL came in third with a '71 428 Pontiac GTO. The ET class gave the crowd pleasure watching future drag racers get their bearings for faster cars. Jeremy Heizer from Crystal City, MO won First, Justin Henderson from East Prairie, MO won Second, and Jeff Redhage from Sullivan, Mo came in Third.
Our beginning class was the trophy class. The winners were Mike McCullough of Dexter, MO, Brian Jones of East Prairie, MO, and Rachael Cooper of Pensacola, FL. Congratulations to all these racers! Our hats are off to all of the fine show car owners and to all the racers who competed this year.
Next year's race planning has already been started and we are trying to make the race more efficient and more exciting. But most of all we are still going to keep the Pontiac tradition alive by having a Midwest race and car show for all Pontiac lovers.
