10th Annual Pontiac Heaven - Pontiacs Fans
|
Here is Steve's '65 Tempest Funny Car project. Bill Milburn has completed most of the metal work to fix the rust and alter the wheelbase. It's being built with a '59 389 block and is bored and stroked to 577 cubes with the aid of 2-inch block spacers of Steve's own design and a 4.800-in stroke billet crank. A 6-bolt main/girdle assembly, a custom pan, and 8-plus-inch long rods are in the bottom end. Pontiac hemi heads are being considered, and a Mooneyham 14-71 supercharger with Enderle injection will be employed. Bill will build the custom headers. The trans will be a Turbo 400 or a Lenco with a dual disc pedal clutch. The rear is a narrowed 9 1/4-inch unit from a '63 Big Car. Steve plans to use the '65 for exhibitions, match races, and even on the street from time to time. View Related Article
