This is now the fourth year in which members of LS1gto.com have worked together to create an outstanding event. The event was held at Bradenton Motorsports Park on Sunday February 8th and there was an excellent turnout. Spectators and racers were treated to warm Florida rays all day without a hint of rain. Last year was much colder and made for some pretty excellent racing conditions as Goats were getting new personal bests all day. This year was sure to impress, too. Goats from across the US gathered to be punished down 1320-feet and spectators were fortunate enough to witness a new late model GTO ET record set by Mick Barger in his 2004 Twin-Turbo GTO.
Class Information
Class "V" - For All Vintage GTOs, Model Years 1964 through 1974.This class, while not highly populated, generates a lot of buzz from the crowd. Many of the vintage GTO's are pure-bred racers while the others are restored classics. They race in a bracket race-style format so it's anyone's race, regardless of modification level.
Class "SM1" - For LS1-Powered Stock/Modified cars.
This is an extremely popular class because anyone who owns a GTO and just wants to have some fun can compete. The engine and drivetrain components must be all stock to race in this class but the following modifications are permitted: Short-shifters, Drag Radials, Replacement Clutches, Front/Rear Suspension Parts, Oil Catch Can, Throttle Body Coolant By-Pass, T-Stat Change Out, CAI, Catback, Muffler/Resonator Delete, "X" or "H" Pipe, ECM Tune, Appearance Modification, Wheels, etc.
Class "SM2" - For LS2-Powered Stock/Modified cars.
Same as SM1 Class.
Class "BO" - Bolt Ons:
Includes all of the above permitted modifications in SM1 and SM2, plus the installation of any of the following: Headers, Aftermarket Intake Manifolds, Modified MAFs, MAF Extenders, Larger than OEM and/or Ported & Polished Throttle Bodies, Underdrive Pulleys, Aftermarket Transmissions, Rear-End Gearing, Torque Converters, Electric Water Pumps.
Class "CAM" - Cam Only:
Includes all modifications for SM1/SM2/BO classes, plus the addition of an aftermarket camshaft and related valvetrain component replacements.
Class "HC" - Heads and Cam:
Includes all modifications and/or replacements mentioned in the SM1/SM2/BO/CAM classes, plus the installation of ported & polished OEM cylinder heads, or aftermarket replacement heads.
Class "UNL" - Unlimited:
Includes all modifications for SM1/SM2/BO/CAM/HC classes, plus any of the following: Nitrous, Forced Induction (Superchargers, Turbochargers) with or without Alky/Meth/Ethenol/Water Injection Systems and all Stroker (aka "Built") motors.
