Brent Martin in his '68 Firebird took the final win over Gary Roberts in a '63 Tempest in the AFX Non-Electronic class.
Eventually the Tempest turned into Linenberger's first race car. "I've been slowly working on it," he explained. "My wife and I left our wedding in this car. Of course, that was when it was red and had tires sticking out of the back."
Cap Proffitt from Ellinwood, Kansas, is a regular face at the event and a member of the sponsoring club. "The racing, the show cars, the camaraderie, and the people are what I like about the event," he said, "... and don't ask me to put them in order."
Cap was joined for the weekend by his wife, Robin, who loves the Pontiac hobby as much as any of the men at the event. The couple brought two Pontiacs this year: a '64 and a '65 GTO. "I love all of it," she said. "I have never seen such a gathering of friends and commonalities as you do with the Pontiac people. There are no other shows and races that have so much enthusiasm, friendship, and nostalgia as those in the Pontiac world."

Two Fourth-Gens compete for top place in the Ram Air class. Derek Wymer's '02 Firehawk (shown on right) was the victor over Jim Reed's '99 Formula.
Some of the proceeds from last year's event went to the Kans for Kids, a Hoisington, Kansas-based charity, that is also scheduled to be this year's charity of choice. The 20th Annual Pontiac Uprising is scheduled for October 9 and 10, 2009, and will return to the Kansas International Dragway in Wichita.
