There were plenty of interesting Ponchos on the show side. Some of them had seldom-seen mods Craig Hendrickson (right), of H-O Racing fame, displayed his '76 Firebird that has been fitted with one of the company's signature Turbo Force systems That's a '58 Rochester mechanical fuel injection system on a '66 GTO. Owner Larry Hinkle installed it on his 421 (now 434 cubes) engine, and boy did it draw attention at the event.

Fire burnouts were huge in the late '60s and early '70s thanks to racers like "TV Tommy" Ivo and "Big Daddy" Don Garlits. Led Zeppelin drummer John Bonham even did one in the movie The Song Remains The Same. Steve wanted to recapture that era with his Pontiac-powered AA/Fuel Dragster. Though many tracks won't allow them for safety reasons, Speedworld did, and the crowd loved it! Steve believes it to be the first one ever done with a Pontiac.
