Tennessee's most popular Pontiac-only show has celebrated 10 successful years and brought together some of the finest stock and modified Pontiacs in the world. What makes this show so special? According to Mike Blackburn, chairman/promoter of the event: "Our hospitality is what sets us apart from other shows. Every year, we receive comments from participants and spectators stating that we care about the relationship between the event and the attendees more than any other car show they've attended."
The three-day show is held on the banks of the picturesque Pigeon River. It features 120-plus show cars (2010 count), and a unique drive-through judging method in which Pontiacs drive-up to the judging lanes instead of the judges going car by car through the show field.
Are you tired of waiting at...
Are you tired of waiting at car shows for the judges to get to you and your car? Pontiacs at Pigeon Forge believes its drive-through judging is a brilliant alternative. When you want your car to be judged, you take it to the judges and they wait on you—you don’t wait on them!
"We've all been to events where we've had to sit and wait for the judges to come to our cars," Blackburn says. That means the participants are stuck in one place until they are judged, and you can never know exactly when that will happen. With our show, you get judged when you want to be judged, allowing you and your car to do other things during the event rather than be stuck in one location."
Past year highlights included a 40-mile-roundtrip Pontiac-only cruise from Pigeon Forge through Gatlinburg to Newfound Gap, the eastern border between Tennessee and North Carolina in the Great Smoky Mountains, and a Tennessee-style pulled pork and beef wet-rub BBQ that began with last year and was a great success.
The show features 26-plus classes (stock and modified), and Best of Show-Stock and Best of Show-Modified awards, which both take home a $500 cash award in addition to a 2-foot-tall trophy cup.
The event is non-profit and donates 100 percent of the proceeds to charity. Last year alone, it garnered $5,000 for St. Jude Children's Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee.
This year's show will feature an appearance by Jim Mattison of PHS Automotive Services and other special guests.
