Ponatic GTO

What many believe to be the first true muslce car, the Pontiac GTO made its debut in 1964 and continued until 1974. Based on the Tempest for virtually all of its life it was dubbed the “super tempest” and came with a full-sized 389ci Pontiac V8 engine. The car served as Pontiac’s counterpunch to the Ford Mustang that was being developed at the same time. 30 years later the Ponatic GTO returned based on GM Holden’s Monaro and received a moderate reception. Many GTO faithful were disappointed with the bland styling or any visual link to the classic GTO’s of old. The revived car met its end just 3 years later with the 2006 Pontiac GTO.
