1963 Bonneville Maharani Passengers Side View
The '63 Bonneville Maharani was photographed under the dome at the GM Tech Center just after its completion. Its aqua paint was nicely set off by the body-colored eight-lug wheels. A "Maharani" callout on front fender trim replaced the normal Bonneville block letters.

The Maharani's wild interior design really stands out. Its combination of stock componentry with four bucket seats, custom upholstery, and peacock feathers on the door panels gives a lot of visual drama. Pouf carpeting and body-colored dash accents tie the whole display together.

This passenger-side view of the interior shows the Maharani script just above the glovebox and the V-shaped pattern on the bucket seats, which are reminiscent of the Pontiac arrowhead insignias.

Here's the Maharani at the GM Tech Center. At a casual glance, the one-off convertible looks like a stock Bonneville in this black-and-white shot. The sharp-eyed, however, will notice the fiberglass top boot, custom upholstery, and Maharani fender callouts. GM Styling badges are also visible on lower front fenders.

This overhead shot gives an additional perspective on the interior. The peacock-feathered door panels are in plain sight from this angle, as are the custom armrests and power window controls. Pouf carpeting extends up into the kick panels.

Custom touches in this Bonneville interior improved an already great-looking cabin. The passenger side seatbelt did not have the spring-loaded retractors, and strangely, no seatbelt is visible at all in the driver-side interior shot.
