Pontiac Product Planning Committee’s Ben Harrison drafted this formal proposal for his boss, General Manager John DeLorean, on behalf of the Ad-Hoc committee. The group felt this new GTO package would draw attention by using improved performance and distinct identification. With the 366hp Ram Air III as standard equipment, the concept car would be quicker than the 350hp, base-model GTO. Capable of producing improved quarter-mile elapsed times (e.t.’s), Harrison suggested E.T. as the concept name; another committee member suggested SL for Stop Light as an alternative.
