Like its divisional siblings, the LeMans Formula X featured a combination of red and blue striping, complemented by the white body panels, color-keyed wheels, and curiously, matte black trim, in the form of a blacked-out grille, headlamp bezels and rocker area. Unlike its siblings, the LeMans Formula X also featured body-colored bumpers.
Perhaps the most intriguing detail of the Formula X LeMans was the ducktail spoiler, which was similar to the one used on the Trans Am but contoured for use on the LeMans' sloping rear deck. Unfortunately, this piece was never put into production. In the rear, the LeMans was finished off with horizontal white accents on the taillamp lenses.
The LeMans Formula X featured an interior that was color-keyed to the exterior. Stock white seats were upholstered with vertical red and blue pleating in the centers.
'73 Ventura Formula X - As mentioned, the Ventura looks very much like a '74 GTO, and it is likely this car had a large influence on the production '74 GTO. Visually, the car is too close to the production '74 Goat for it to be any sort of coincidence. They both have the Shaker scoops, the '66 GP turn-signal lamps-even the prototype stripe design is similar to the later production version. About the only differences that really jump out are the lack of a black strip on the bumper and the "350" callouts on the front fender. Unlike the LeMans, the interior of the Ventura Formula X appears to have been left alone, as there aren't any red and blue pleats on the seats, though they are white.
'73 Firebird Formula X - The Firebird Formula X appears to be a hybrid between a Formula and Trans Am and seems to have had the least amount of work done to it, as things like ducktail spoilers and Shaker hoods were already available in that series.
Though there are no records that have been uncovered to support precisely what version Firebird was used for the prototype, it would have been easiest to start with a Trans Am, as the good pieces were already there.
In any event, the Formula X Firebird used a T/A Shaker hood and ducktail spoiler, combined with a small chin spoiler and a lack of rear-wheel spats. Like the other two, '66 Grand Prix turn-signal lamps were set in the grille. The moving of the turn signals left open spaces in the splash pan. They were converted to brake cooling ducts, accented with horizontal strips at the openings.

Here's another shot of the same LeMans. It is shown here with Rally II wheels. Note the red and blue accents on the white bucket seats.

In what appears to be some early photos from the program, the Ventura and LeMans Formula X prototypes are compared side to side. Both have color-keyed Honeycomb wheels, though neither have the grille-mounted turn-signal lamps at this point. The LeMans' body-colored bumper gave an Endura-like appearance.
