This A.I.R. system is rare today because of its California-only option status and the fact that it hurt performance a bit. If you weren't in California, you didn't want it! Essentially, this system is designed to add cleaner air to the exhaust in order to meet California emissions standards. Air is first drawn into the filter canister, then into a pump through a pair of check valves, and finally, into tubes that inject the air into the exhaust ports of the heads. A separate bleed line controlled by a valve runs back to a crankcase vent and aids in deceleration of the motor. "It took months of looking (to) find the A.I.
