1975 Pontiac Grand Am Side
The Grand Am was introduced in 1973, and included myriad performance features aimed at creating the ultimate road car. A 400ci engine, power steering and brakes were standard features, as was Radial Tuned Suspension-a suspension package boasting of radial tires, 1.125-inch front- and 0.813-inch rear-sway bars, and specific coil springs and shock absorbers.

Owner David Johnson replaced the original Endura nose with an N.O.S. unit during the restoration, but it, too, started cracking within a few years. He ultimately replaced it with a fiberglass reproduction from Indesign in San Jose, California, about six years ago. "It required a bit of fitting, but I think it turned out pretty well," he says.

While the vertical taillight treatment was introduced in '74, the body-colored rear bumper was new for '75. Louvered rear quarter windows were standard on Grand Am coupes, while a formal rear window (AB8) was a no-cost option. The CB1 Landau top added $99 to the price tag.

The Grand Prix and Grand Am shared a dash panel that wrapped around the driver in true cockpit fashion, while an African Crossfire Mahogany appliqu added a touch of class. The Custom Sport steering wheel and electric gauges were standard Grand Am features. Other options include N33 Tilt Wheel, CD4 Controlled Cycle Wipers, and C60 Custom Air Conditioning.
