The Firebird's nose was restyled for 1977 and it incorporated four rectangular headlights. Trans Am popularity soared with 68,745 total units built that model year. The black and gold Special Edition package, carried over from the previous year, proved a popular choice, representing 15,567 of that total. Larry Reimer's is one of 3,760 S/E T/As produced with the Hurst Hatches (Y82), W72 Performance Package, and M38 automatic transmission.

You may have noticed that the exhaust splitters on this Trans Am aren't the chrome units typically found on all other T/As, but are instead black chrome. Developed for the 50th Anniversary Trans Am produced in 1976, few received them that year before they were seemingly dropped from production. Larry says these were on his Trans Am when he took delivery, and that there's no indication they weren't factory installed. Your guess is as good as ours.

Power steering and brakes, limited-slip differential, and Radial Tuned Suspension with GR70-15 tires and 1.25-inch front, and 0.625-inch rear sway bars, were standard Trans Am features. White-lettered tires and cast-aluminum 15x7-inch Snowflake wheels were extra-cost options, even on S/E models.
