The IRS axleshafts were one...
The IRS axleshafts were one of the weakest links in the previous GTO. It's reassuring to see that the G8 sports a thicker set. These should be able to take a bit more power-something the L76 will be easily capable of delivering with some tweaks. The stamped steel control arms may need to be replaced for heavily modified applications.

For the first pass (with the traction control off), we gave the tires a quick dust off and put some heat into them. We simply nailed out of the hole in Sport mode, and were rewarded with a 13.8-second slip at the timing shack. On our second pass, we tried something new. We stalled the converter up until it started to pull forward, then released the brake and rolled into the gas. We saw an improvement on the e.t., and the lower wheel slip explains the decrease in 60-ft time and e.t.
