Given today's economic situation many hobbyists have been forced to dial-back their expenditures with regard to collectible Pontiacs. While prices are steadily dropping on all models, even the coveted Judge convertibles, the Super-Dutys, and the Ram Air cars, they can still be out of the reach to those of us who still need to put food on the table.
Don't get discouraged if you still want a great Pontiac at a more affordable price. There are some very enjoyable and collectible alternatives out there. Dave and Carl Alger's low-mileage 1975 455 H.O. Trans Am is one of them. It is very rare with just 857 produced, its condition is remarkable with just 11,588 miles, making it close to if not the ultimate collectable T/A for the 1975 model year.
While this particular car would not be a bargain basement sale given its attributes, its buy-in price would, however, be thousands less than a 1970-72 Trans Am and probably even considerably less than '73 and '77-79 T/As in similar condition.
For some reason the "shovel-nosed" 1974 and 1975 Birds don't enjoy the popularity that they deserve (except '74 SD-455s) yet they are great looking and perform as well as many of the more popular model year Pontiacs.
