1964 Pontiac GTO - Rebel's Rollover Restored
|
A total of 24,205 GTOs built in 1964 received the 389 four-barrel, which featured a bore and stroke of 4.06 and 3.75 inches respectively, and employed a No. 009 camshaft with 273/289 degrees of duration and 0.406/0.406-inch valve lift. It was rated at 325 hp at 4,800 rpm and 428 lb-ft of torque at 3,200 rpm. A chrome air cleaner and valve covers were included with the GTO package, and the plating on these units is factory applied. Tim believes the radiator and radiator support are the GTO's originals, as are the flywheel and clutch and pressure-plate assembly of this code-78X engine. The owner painstakingly replicated the "OK-6" inspection stamp found on the righthand cylinder head. View Related Article
