Optional code-478/P05 14x7 (Polycast fascia over a steel wheel) Honeycombs look great on the '73, as do their lighter and attractive replacements, the 15x8 aluminum Snowflakes on the '78 (despite the fact that it doesn't have WS6). Both Birds are equipped with modern BFG T/A Radials, 225/70R15 on the '78 and 215/70R14 on the '73.
Conclusion
While these two feature Birds and the others mentioned certainly make for an interesting Pontiac portfolio of ownership, George has also held title to a '70 GTO, a '73 Firebird Esprit, an '00 Grand Am, a white '78 T/A, and another '69 Firebird 400. All these Pontiacs could create a crowded household, but according to George, "Though she is not involved directly, Annie, my wife of 31 years, supports-or should I say, puts up with-my hobby and all the trips out of state. While I go to car shows, she takes care of our 10 dogs and works full-time."
With ample support on the home front, George is free to pursue his automotive passions. His take on his current collection? "Dreams do come true sometimes they just take awhile."
After 28 years in the Air Force, taking on several medical boards for reinstatement after being found 100 percent disabled, and 24 years in remission from cancer, 51-year-old George Berg is certainly qualified to comment on what is important in life and how long some goals take to achieve.
"I figure you only live once," he says, and right now he does his living in his choice of Firebirds.
