The debut
The big day came on May 10, 2007--with the help of friends and Mark's wife, Angie, Herb got his first ride in the GTO. It was a dream realized after 23 years, many of which were hard labor for Mark. To make things even better, they did what they originally intended to do and went to a car show together with the GS and the GTO. Even after all these years, it's still one of Herb's favorite pasttimes, and he asks where the next show is each weekend.
The Mastin's next big adventure took them to the GTOAA Nationals in Saratoga Springs, New York, in 2008. They entered the Concours Restored class and finished with a bronze-- remarkable considering the scrutiny with which the concours cars are examined and that this Goat doesn't even feature all the correct options.
What began as a father-son project on a uniquely hued and optioned GTO has grown into an accomplishment of which Herb and Mark can be proud.
