Designer Kevin Morgan teamed up with Tod and Scott Warmack of Trans Am Depot of Tallahassee, Florida, to make the '10 "T/A" a reality. Starting with a production-model '10 Camaro RS SS-2, the concept "takes its cues from the '77-'78 model and incorporates everything one would expect from a production T/A," Tod says.
An initial one-off concept-the forerunner to a production kit the team will introduce later this year-will sport a functional hoodscoop atop a 6.2L 426hp LS3 powerplant mated to a Tremec TR6060 six-speed manual transmission.
"Second-generation DNA can be found throughout the Morgan design," Tod tells HPP. "Fender air extractors, a rear spoiler, and a side-exit splitter exhaust make a timeless transition to the [Fifth-Generation F-body] platform. The '77 front end; YearOne's 20-inch, billet-aluminum Snowflake wheels; and a modernized retro hood bird give this T/A that unmistakable 'back-in-the-day' look."
Interior modifications will be pure Trans Am. "We plan to incorporate the aluminum swirl and custom upholstery stitching as the basis of our modifications, and work from there," Tod says.
This photo here is what the completed Trans Am will look like. Based on a photograph of a '10 Camaro, it was digitally modified to show the details of the not-yet-completed concept car. Unveiling of the full-size, fully functional T/A will take place at the 2009 Trans Am Nationals, August 28-30, 2009, in Dayton, Ohio.
