1958 Pontiac Chieftain Convertible - The Other Woman
|
Boasting 370 cubes for '58, this Chieftain powerplant also features Tri-Power carburetion and 300 hp. The engine was rebuilt to mostly stock specs except for a 0.030 overbore. Its factory crank and rods remain, the cam is a "472" with 273/282-degrees duration and 0.410/0.414 lift. Inside the "511" heads are 1.88/1.50 valves, and up top a trio of two-barrel Rochesters feed the intake ports via a cast-iron manifold. Note this engine was updated with later small, chrome-topped, pleated paper filters, which replace the single large, black air cleaner that covers all the carbs and uses an oil bath element. A Delco points distributor lights the fire. View Related Article
