2010 GSC T/A: Second Opinion
As we sit back and reflect, ask yourself what initially drew you to Pontiacs when you saw one for the first time. For me, it was the blend of styling and power. Is there really any American car cooler than a '68 GTO, '77 SE T/A, '02 WS6, or '62 Super-Duty Catalina?
Well to me, there isn't. Pontiac is gone and we're all upset over it; I've been since the Trans Am left the lineup. There wasn't much excitement going on around Pontiac dealer lots in 2003
I always wanted the Trans Am to come back, but there was never a plan for it. As we have recently learned, the plan for Pontiac to meet its maker was set in stone well before 2010, so GM only had to worry about the Camaro-Pontiac owners want a T/A.
Kevin Morgan was one of the first to present us with a taste of what is possible with a little ingenuity and the drive to build a car that so many Firebird fanatics wanted. Now it seems like many have jumped on the Camaro-Bird bandwagon.
Though I was skeptical of this whole '10 Trans Am thing, I'm humbled to finally say that this one has promise. The Gearhead Street Customs T/A is not a concept. It's not an artist's rendering. This is an actual car that has made its way from paper to sheetmetal, or composite resin, in this case.
What makes this T/A different from many of the other cars out there is that this one, like Morgan's car, is complete and already being sold to the public. As a matter of fact, this GSC that we tested is a customer car.
The style of this T/A is spot-on; it looks like a true interpretation of the Trans Am if Pontiac built it. Let's ignore the fact that this car isn't being produced under the Arrowhead, and instead focus on the fact it was made at all.
