Going with the theme “Wide-Trackin’ A Mile High,” the 33rd Annual GTOAA International Convention, held July 3-7, 2012, in Loveland, Colorado, north of Denver, had GTO fans from as far away as Alaska, Georgia, and even Australia cruising comfortably at 5,100 feet above sea level.

Many times after a great initial effort, the follow-up suffers from a sophomore slump when the public’s reaction just isn’t as strong. We see it with music groups, movie sequels, new and improved products, and even car shows.

While most of the Northern U.S. was still under the cold white blanket of winter, we made a trip to balmy Speedworld Raceway Park in Wittmann, Arizona, for Steve Barcak’s 14th annual Pontiac Heaven car show and race, held March 30 through April 1, 2012.

We all know that running a car show in early November in New Jersey can be risky business with regard to the weather. The Delaware Valley Old Goat Club chapter of the GTOAA and host club knows this all too well, but still manages to put on a well-attended and entertaining event each year.

When the U.S. Congress passed a resolution citing July 13 at National Collector Car Appreciation Day, the powers that be a parent company Source Interlink Media decided to host an open house at all three of its editorial locations—Tampa, Florida, Irvine, California, and Los Angeles—to celebrate.

Late August in the Midwest means only one thing to a Firebird fan—the Trans Am Nationals! Each year hundreds of Birds flock to Dayton, Ohio, to take part in what has become a 27-year ritual.

Last month, High Performance Pontiac brought you Part 1: Car Show and Celebrities, detailing the high-intensity action and excitement of the Ames Performance Tri Power Pontiac Nationals, which was held August 5-8, 2011, at Summit Motorsports Park in Norwalk, Ohio.

The Ames Performance Tri Power Pontiac Nationals, held annually at Summit Motorsports Park in Norwalk, Ohio, continues to band together a brand that refuses to fade away. The soiree’s 20th anniversary show—held last August—confirmed that Pontiac hobbyists are as loyal to the Performance Division as they’ve ever been.

Though HPP has mainly covered Pontiac-only events in past years, we decided to attend the All GM Nationals the weekend of June 24-26, 2011, to check out the participating Pontiacs and we were glad we did, as there was a large Poncho presence on the National Parts Depot-sponsored showfield. A fantastic variety of models from the 1950s through 2009 provided a colorful history of the division’s greats.

The GM Heritage Center houses a rotating collection of some of the most exciting cars from all of the Divisions’ past—including a selection of Pontiacs.

For the 13th annual event, show promoter Steve Barcak put on a four-day Pontiac extravaganza with three shows, two races, a test and tune, two cruise-ins, a party, and tons of other activities.
