My family had a long history of owning t/a's.anyways spend 5 grand on a nice 79 all new interior newer black paint, she was lookin good no gold bird tho :(. Very nice sounding built pontiac 400 with a B&M rachit shifter the previous owner thought it was a good idea to cut the back breaks(cheap line lock) had the kick down set wrong and removed the rear sway bar for what ever reason.all this plus really fat tires and it was not good in the rain, thats for sure.Anyways 5 days after getting it on the road I was coming off a on ramp and hit the gas to get over and the car down shifted and spun out. BAM! 65mph right into a guard rail. Hardly felt it in that land yacht the car is built like a tank. had to climb out the wondow as the door was jamed The cop swore I was speeding due to the smashed up guard rail, but I had a number of witnces tell him diffrent I tryed telling him its heavy 4000pd steel car not a little rice box. it was sooooo heart breaking seeing that flat bed take my ta away.1 day latter and 400 bucks latter we got the car back.Everyone told us it was totaled and for good reason the front of the car was smashed pretty darn bad. My father baeing the old school gearhead that he is said we can fix it nad even I had a bit of dought.Thats crash happened 8/18/09 from today 3/16/10 and the car is almost ready for paint.Needs a little more body work and more sanding but shes cloes. After 3 days of messing with them adjusments we got them lines strighter then factory. so how much did it cost you may ask????? $150 for front subfram with all new suspension springs and busings(got a very good CL deal) $900 for a parts car(78 trans am)got 300 back do far in parts we dont need 500 in odds and ends much chaeper then one would think do do something like this yes i know its 78 nose on a 79 body and its a 81 front sub frame we learned the hard way there more diffrence in these yr cars then you may think but I dont even care beacuse I would never sell this car in a million years it means wayy to much to me and my father and could care less about the value. heres the pics.on my cam I have pics of the whole entire tare down from start until now it was ALOT of work thats for sure but its well worth it.Me and my father work on it everyday to 8pm sometimes only a hour or 2 sometime 14 hours stright going the extra mile to make it right and make it look good. this was always his dream car too.back in the day he had a 76 firebird with just the little 6 cyl but would always talk about how cool it looked and how it had the best handling "it would just hug the roads" http://i193.photobucket.com/albums/z207/hitace/1-2.jpg http://i193.photobucket.com/albums/z207/hitace/6-1.jpg http://i193.photobucket.com/albums/z207/hitace/1-3.jpg http://i193.photobucket.com/albums/z207/hitace/2-3.jpg http://i193.photobucket.com/albums/z207/hitace/3-3.jpg http://i193.photobucket.com/albums/z207/hitace/4-1.jpg http://i193.photobucket.com/albums/z207/hitace/5-1.jpg http://i193.photobucket.com/albums/z207/hitace/thisone.jpg http://i193.photobucket.com/albums/z207/hitace/28.jpg http://i193.photobucket.com/albums/z207/hitace/27.jpg the last pics are a little old we since got all new headlights put it and got the lines stright still looking for front fender flares for a 78 LONG LIVE PONTIAC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ok now for cam break in use a oil that has ZDDP in it like break in oil or valvoline VR-1 racing oil it has ZDDP in it as well. Run it for 10 minutes at 1800RPM be sure it doesn't overheat shut down let cool and then run it for another 10-15 minutes at 2200RPM and then the cam will be broke in. Run the engine normal meaning don't race it or stomp on it for 650-1000 Miles and then after that the engine is fully broke in.

The problem is that the power steering pump, timing cover, and time chain cover were all removed at the time. I got all that back on and running decent. To the point, yes. After mounting the power steering...no belt fits that I bought or that was with the car. I can take a picture and post it, but all the photos I could find on the front of the motor via: autozone, oreillys, etc. I have it on the only way I would think it would go. Can anyone give me a link or some advice?
