Pontiac Pavement Pounders Shootout Part 1: Canadian Thunder

Owner Bio: Wayne Kennedy
Wayne Kennedy is a 45-year-old GM employee and St. Catharines, Ontario resident who bought his Oshawa-built '70 Judge when he was just 18. His older brother had purchased a '70 Judge a few years earlier and he fell in love with it. Wayne spotted his own Judge sitting on a used car lot with a blown engine. The lot owner said they were replacing the engine with another 400 and it would be $1,700 Canadian. Kennedy agreed to buy the car when they were finished. Unfortunately, someone else bought it out from under him. After about a week he purchased a '69 Mach I Mustang. "I was out cruising in the Mustang when I saw that Judge go by. I chased after it and asked the guy if he'd care to sell it. He said he might if the price was right" Wayne recalls. After a few months of bugging the guy, he sold it to Kennedy for $2,100. Wayne soon learned that the Judge was built in Oshawa, Ontario, on January 14, 1970 and has WT1 on the data tag. In the 26 years that followed, he has raced the Judge regularly. Kennedy won the 1999 Street Championship at Dragway Park in Cayuga, Ontario (now known as Toronto Motorsports Park), and he and his Judge are familiar sights at the Ames Performance Pontiac Nationals.
