Pontiac Pavement Pounders Shootout Part II: Canadian Thunder

Owner Bio: Imran Chaudary
You could say that 32 year-old Wainfleet, Ontario resident Imran Chaudary and the legendary Carroll Shelby have a few things in common. Both like fast cars and have backgrounds in poultry farming. Where Carroll was not-especially successful as a chicken rancher and preferred Fords, Imran has found much more success in his family's egg farm, and of course, he is a Pontiac man through and through. Imran was just 16 when the itch for a GTO started. He had seen a '68 in a movie and had to have one. A month later, he located this '69 in Toronto. "I begged my father to purchase it for me and promised to pay him back," Chaudary recalled. It had been a winter beater, but for $800 was still very restorable." He has owned it ever since. Chaudary's racing career started six years ago, at a drag day sponsored by his car club, the Classic GTO Club of Ontario. He brought his car to the track but left it in the parking lot. When everyone in the pits asked him to bring his GTO around and make some passes, he replied that he had never raced before. They assured him it would be fun and not to worry, so he gave it a try. The adrenaline rush was enough to hook him for life. In addition to his '69 coupe, Imran and his brother also own a '69 GTO convertible, a '69 Ram Air IV Judge and a '70 GTO coupe.

Owner Bio: Tom Kehoe
Tom Kehoe is a 43 year-old tool rental agent who hails from Niagara Falls, Ontario. He has been very happy with his Trans Am since purchasing it in '96, but things didn't work out quite as he had planned. Originally, he wanted a new black on black '96 WS6 6-speed from a dealer in Toronto, but the Pontiac was sold the day before it was to come in. The GT arrived at the dealership the same day. "The Trans Am had just come in as a two year-old lease turn-in," Tom recalled. "It only had 18,000 miles and they made a great deal on it. My GTA went away and it was hello Fourth-Gen!" Tom has been a Trans Am fanatic for many years and has previously owned a '78 403-powered T/A, an '80 301, an '84 LG4-powered model and the aforementioned '88 GTA.
