Pavement Pounders Shootout: Lone Star Edition

OWNER: JOSH HURT

Owner Bio
Josh Hurt, at just 20 years old, has already been racing for 3 years. His '01 Trans Am is more than just a fast Pontiac. According to Hurt, "I learned how to work on cars by doing everything myself to this one." Judging by his e.t.'s, Josh has learned quite a bit. He related that his favorite moment in this car was, "going faster with a stock cam than I have with an aftermarket one that I had installed." (He then swapped the stock cam back in.) Hurt says that he is very proud of the fact that his T/A is his daily driver that takes him to work, school, and the track. He also told us that his Bird is "the fastest internally stock with power adder LS1 according to the LS1 Tech Database."

OWNER: JONATHAN BURCHMORE

Owner Bio
Jonathan Burchmore is a self-professed computer geek by trade who builds cars in his spare time. The 26-year-old transplanted Californian drove this '69 Bird to San Diego, California, from Cleveland, Ohio in three days with the old 400 engine in it and the same trans and 3,800 stall converter that it runs today. Jon explained, "I bought the car with a work bonus; it's my third Pontiac. It's special because all of the work has been done by me, my family, or my friends--usually in our own garages." Its latest outing was an open track day on a roadrace course. The other two Pontiacs Burchmore has owned were a '68 GTO and a '76 T/A.
