Pontiac Pavement Pounders Shootout: Lone Star Part 2

Owner Bio: Wayne Barnes
"The '67 GTO was my favorite car in high school, but I could not afford one then," Wayne Barnes shared. This 53-year-old recent grandfather can afford one now, and he makes the most of it having driven over 1,500 miles last year on the Hot Rod Power Tour. This year Wayne drove the GTO from Arlington, Texas, to Green Bay, Wisconsin, as part of the Long Haul Gang on the Power Tour traveling 2,600 miles with no trouble. Owner of a wholesale fence supply company, Barnes is a regular at musclecar challenge races and told us that his favorite moment with his GTO was winning Best of Show at the Whitesboro Peanut Festival Classic Car Show.

Owner Bio: Larry Navarro
"It was a car that I dreamt about owning in my high school days. So 10 years later, I found this one-owner Pontiac in 1989," Larry Navarro explained regarding his '79 T/A SE. The 42-year-old control systems designer has been racing for 20 years, so its no wonder that the SE T/A got some performance enhancements. But Larry says, "Although this car has had engine transplants, I still value the fact that it's a rare SE 400 four-speed T/A and can be brought back to its original state easily." He has owned over a dozen Firebirds and T/As, including a '73 455 SD T/A. Larry is currently designing and marketing specialty products for Second-Gen Birds.
