Pontiac Pavement Pounders Shootout - Norwalk Raceway Park Part 3
Owner Bio: Edward Sobczyk What's so special about Edward's '68 LeMans? "I got it 15 years ago and transformed it from a 14-second car to a low 11-second car with the help of family and friends," he tells HPP. "Working on cars with my dad since I was 10, mainly Pontiacs, has turned into a family auto business that specializes in the repair and maintenance of classic and musclecars." The 19-year veteran racer fondly recalls, "I was told by the tech guy at Milan to slow it down. Low 11s was too fast to go without a rollbar. At that moment, it finally sunk in how quick the car actually had gotten. Of course, the problem is now fixed as it has a bar and seatbelts." Although at 37 years old, Edward has owned plenty of other Pontiacs over the years, he currently has a '68 Grand Prix as a bookend to his LeMans. | STRIP TUNING LOG | | Run | Tuning | Launch RPM | Shift Point | 60-FT | 1/8 E.T./MPH | 1/4 E.T./MPH | | 2 | 38-deg timing | 2,000 | 5,800/6,200 | 1.51 | 7.09/95.19 | 11.26/116.92 | | 3 | Same, jetted up to #88/#94 | 2,000 | 5,800/6,200 | 1.53 | 7.08/96.27 | 11.20/118.21 | | 4 | Same | 2,000 | 5,800 | 1.53 | 7.09/96.16 | 11.22/118.17 | | 5 | Same, jetted up to #89 primaries | 2,000 | 6,200/5,800 | 1.54 | 7.09/96.95 | 11.17/119.80 | | 7 | Same, jetted up to #91 primaries | 2,200 | 6,200/5,800 | 1.53 | 7.06/97.19 | 11.14/119.80 | | BEST PASS CORRECTED | 10.60/125.87 | | Run Notes: 2) Surge on top end, running lean. |
