Pontiac Pavement Pounders Shootout SoCal Edition, Part I
OWNER BIO: Craig Cyr As the lone front driver in the group, Craig Cyr has taken a different approach to Pontiac performance, but the results are impressive--especially since his '00 GTP is powered by a V-6 engine. This high-tech approach to performance has allowed Craig some sophisticated options with tuning, including an on-board ZZPerformance air/fuel calibrator (which can dial fuel in or out) and a laptop computer using Digital Horsepower's Powr Tuner software suite. He is able to make critical timing and fuel curve changes, and control numerous other functions without even opening the hood. The 30-year-old Ridgecrest, California, resident says he purchased his GTP because he fell in love with the styling. He has since become the president of the Southern California Club Grand Prix. His favorite activity? "I love racing this car," Craig says, "especially when I beat some Mustang!" | Strip Specs | | Year/Model: | '00 GTP | | Race Weight: | 3,690 lbs | | Curb Weight: | 3,450 lbs | | Engine: | '00 L67, supercharged 3800 Series II V-6 | | Cubic Inches Before/After Bore: | 231/231 | | Compression Ratio: | 8.5:1 | | Built By: | GM | | Fuel: | 104-octane | | Airbox: | MSP, S&B 9-in cone filter | | Fuel Injection: | OEM GM | | Injectors: | 42.5 lb/hr | | MAF: | 85mm LS6 | | Throttle Body: | 75mm Cadillac Northstar | | Intake Manifold: | Stock L67 | | Fuel System: | Stock GM | | Heads: | '00 L67 | | Head Porting: | None | | Valves: | Stock GM 1.80/1.52 | | Pistons/Rings: | Stock L67 hypereutectic, 3.8-in bore/stock L67 | | Rods: | Stock GM powdered-metal | | Crankshaft: | GM nodular iron, 3.4-in stroke | | Rotating Assembly Balanced: | Factory | | Camshaft: | Comp Cams hydraulic roller, 206/216-deg duration at 0.050, 0.512/0.507-in lift with stock 1.6:1 stamped rocker arms, 115-deg LSA | | Installed Position: | Straight up | | Ignition System: | Computer-controlled GM crank trigger | | Exhaust: | The Other Guys headers, 15/8-inch primaries, 3-in system, DynoMax mufflers | | Power Adder: | Stock Eaton L67 supercharger developing 12 psi boost with MAP air-to-liquid intercooler | | Converter: | Stock 258mm, 2,200-stall | | Transmission: | Stock 4T65-E, 2.93:1 final drive ratio, stock shifter | | Brakes Front/Rear: | Production 10.9-in, upgraded with cross-drilled KVR rotors and Hawk pads | | Wheels/Tires Front: | Alba 15x8.5/Hoosier Quicktime Pro 26x9.5x15 slicks | | Wheels/Tires Rear: | Stock 16x7/BFG Traction T/As 225/60-15 | | Tire Pressure Front/Rear: | 17 psi/42 psi | | Suspension Front & Rear: | Complete GM Performance Parts suspension package featuring front and rear sway bars, lowered springs, and adjustable Koni shocks | | Chassis Modifications: | None | | Interior Modifications: | Custom A-pillar gauge pod with boost, oil pressure, and trans temp gauges | | Exterior Modifications: | None | | Safety Modifications: | None | | Custom Computer Programming: | Owner-tuned at track using stand-alone ZZPerformance air/fuel calibrator, laptop computer and Digital Horsepower Powr Tuners software suite | | Launch Technique: | Footbrake to 2,000 rpm | | Best ET/MPH Prior to Event (1/4-Mile): | 13.27 at 102 |
