When the skirt was first turned it was left .020 over size. Now it is turned to finish size. The tool in the Takisawa TPS 4100 machine moves in and out and is synchronized with the revolutions of piston. This machine provides the correct cam shape, since pistons are not truly round by design, and it cuts the taper from top to bottom. Coolant with its own refrigeration system flows over the piston to maintain a constant temperature, which insures that each piston is the same size since they won't be vulnerable to expansion from heat.
