Paul determined the rod bearing clearances prior to installation of the rods. With the rod and piston assemblies installed, he then checked the rod side clearance. A Spotts Performance custom scraper was glued to the block, bolted down, and left to dry. Scraper to crank-and-rod clearance was .020 to .030.
