17e. Repeat the process of setting up the dial-bore gauge for the rods, as was done for the mains. Measure with the bearings installed in the rods and the bolts torqued to spec. Here the gauge says 0.0025-inch—that is the bearing clearance. Measure all the rod journals and all the bearings to get the individual clearances. Never assume the rest are the same.
