An automatic-transmission clutch pack generally consists of a series of frictional and steel plates. Turbo-400s have three packs—Forward, Intermediate, and Direct. Fluid pressure is used to apply the clutches, which transmit engine power to the planetary gears. Our Turbo 400 has its original steels (left) and frictions (right) 40 years later. The appearance looks rather typical for well used stockers.
