The Firebird retains its original shock absorbers, which are painted medium gray. The identification tag is very faded, but a trace of a code beginning with “R” is visible. We see a combination of red oxide and light gray primers in the shock-mounting area. Our research indicates that the F-bodies assembled at the Norwood plant were dipped in red oxide primer. It appears that in 1977 light gray primer was sprayed over it before the exterior color was applied.
