The Special Edition package featured code-19 Starlight Black finish trimmed with a gold pinstripe consisting of a wide/narrow side-by-side theme. The gold striping surrounds the Shaker opening on the hood. It also accentuates the trailing edge of the Shaker body, which has a tail that ends on the same angle as the rear of the Shaker. The engine designation was called out on the Shaker in a German Goth-type font. “6.6 Litre” was used on S/E T/As powered by either the base 400-inch Pontiac or 403-inch Olds (California and high altitude) mills. “T/A 6.6” was used when the W72 option was added, which included the new-for-’77, high-performance T/A 400 engine boasting 200 hp.
