The fresh and cooler outside... The fresh and cooler outside air enters SLP's high-flow airbox. Here we can see the K&N conical air filter, which is included with the SLP cold-air package. To test the effects of a Ram-Air... To test the effects of a Ram-Air hood, the strip is the place to do it. We baselined with the non-Ram-Air lid and ran a 15.12 at 89.72 mph. With the Ram Air lid in place, we lowered the e.t. to 15.06 and increased the trap speed to 90.26 mph. We removed the screen from... We removed the screen from the mass airflow meter/throttle body in desperation to run a 14-second quarter-mile. The throttle response improved, but the 60-foot and quarter e.t.'s dropped by only a hundredth. Bigger improvements are usually seen on V-8s and supercharged V-6s doing this mod. Mounted under the dash is... Mounted under the dash is SLP's fan control switch, which has three positions-stock (thermostatic), low-speed, and high speed. The fan lowered the coolant temp between runs for a consistent 160 degrees at the staging beams. In our last-ditch effort for... In our last-ditch effort for a 14-second e.t., we removed the spare tire and jack equipment. Without the excessive baggage, we scooted down to a 14.98 at 90.65 mph. Temperature ranged from 68... Temperature ranged from 68 to 72 degrees for our strip test session. We didn't have any ice for the intake, so we removed the plastic engine cover to help cool it quicker. We ran another 14.98 e.t. Wow, the wife's car could be a consistent bracket car if I could only get it away from her! Looking at the background... Looking at the background of this photo you can see we had beautiful weather conditions. Consistently timed throttle depression helped us achieve clean launches. Thanks to SLP's bolt-ons, we now have an economical 14-second family car coming from the simple Six Sense.
