With the differential out of the way, we removed the pinion using a 1-1/4-inch socket on an impact gun to take off the pinion nut. After the yoke was removed, the pinion nut was screwed back onto the pinion about three full turns. Using a 4-pound sledge hammer, the pinion was driven rearward in the housing to free it from the bearings. View Related Article
