Don't Be Alarmed
Ron Francis introduces Safe-n-Sound, a remote power disconnect to protect your Pontiac against theft. According to the manufacturer, "it's accomplished by routing your main battery cable through a remote cutoff solenoid that you've stashed in a place not easily accessible to a thief." Activate it with one click upon a fob when you walk away from your vehicle and the battery is disconnected.
The upgraded four-channel Safe-n-Sound takes the protection one step further and shuts off all power from the battery, "but also operates three other circuits, like closing the windows, triggering the power door locks, and interrupting electrical power to the fuel pump-all separate from the main battery cutoff. The four-channel package handles up to 30-amps worth of electrical equipment." Both versions of Safe-n-Sound include a fob transmitter, circuit cutoff solenoid, mechanical override switch, all wiring, and instructions. The price is $141 for the base unit and $167 for the four-channel unit that also includes a second key fob.

Rig the primaries! (And Secondaries)
Quick Fuel Technology announces the Quick Link throttle control system for all 4150-style four-barrel carbs with mechanical secondaries. According to the manufacturer, "each kit includes slabbed Teflon-coated throttle shafts, high-flow button head throttle plate screws, Teflon bearing ribbons, and three different linkage rods that control when the secondary throttle shaft opens." Define the opening rate of your carb's primary and secondary venturies for street, strip, or road racing. Use the gold link to open the primary venturies 40 percent before opening the secondary plates. Use the black link to open the primaries 60 percent before opening the secondaries, and use the silver link to open primaries and secondaries at the same time. The links are easy to change out in only seconds without removing the carb from the intake. The Quick Link throttle-control system is also a good throttle-shaft upgrade to consider, even when rebuilding your Holley Double Pumper carb. The price is $45.

A Pan's Gotta Do What A Pan's Gotta Do
PML Inc. offers a sand-cast aluminum transmission pan for Pontiac Grand Prixs and GTPs with GM 4T60E and 4T65E transmissions. This transmission pan features thick wall construction and provides an easier fluid change with its drain hole and magnetic drain plug. According to the manufacturer, "a precision-machined, 3/8-inch-thick gasket flange provides a uniform clamping force on the gasket so the pan is much less prone to leakage than a stock one, which is typically 1/32-inch-thick stamped steel. Other features include raised fins for cooling, a low profile for clearance, and an undrilled boss for a temperature sensor. The pan is available in as-cast black powdercoated and polished finishes. Fins are shaved when a powdercoat finish is selected." The price is $200 (black powdercoated) and $310 (polished finishes).
