Some Considerations
Past testing indicates that OEM-type weights and center plates, like those included with the Performance Distributors and Proform units, seem to offer a smoother centrifugal advance curve than some aftermarket counterparts. If you would like to purchase OEM-type weights and center plates, contact D&D Manufacturing, Inc., Memphis, TN (901) 458-3287 for more information. | As the lower bushing of the housing wears, it oftentimes scores the mainshaft, ultimately leading to an excessive amount of lateral play. The examples featured in our buyer's guide are manufactured with mainshafts in new condition like this one. | Adjusting the vacuum advance canister on some HEI's is as easy as inserting a hex-wrench into the vacuum port and turning one way or the other. Refer to the instructions or contact the manufacturer for exact adjustment details. |
