With the headers and Y-pipe installed, a set of NGK TR6 spark plugs (retail $2.25 each) was installed to replace the factory Delco plugs. The stock plugs were factory gapped at 0.060, but had visible electrode wear and a gap that had grown to 0.067. Although the TR6 plugs are one heat-range colder than stock and gapped at 0.038, they're proven performers in the LS1 and will help to reduce cylinder temperatures and prevent pre-ignition.
