Comp Cams Front View
Comp Cams' Jet-Hot XER273HR grind (PN 54-444-11, retail $402.42) is advertised as a high-rpm street-strip cam that features the most aggressive lobe profiles in Comp's catalog for LS1 applications. With a power-band of 2,000 to 7,000 rpm, the cam specs in at 0.224/0.230-degrees duration at 0.050 and 0.581/0.588-inch intake/exhaust lift on a 114 LSA. As compared to the stock GM '98-'00 LS1 cam (202/210-degrees int/exh at 0.050-inch duration and 0.496/ 0.496-inch intake/exhaust lift on a 116 LSA), the Comp cam requires an efficient intake and exhaust system to realize its potential.

In addition to Comp's redesigned 26918 single-beehive spring kit (PN 54100, retail $555.31) that now supports up to 0.625-inch lift, it also markets a dual valve spring kit (PN 26921, retail $670.56) for LS1/LS6 and LS2 applications that supports up to 0.650-inch lift without the need to machine spring seats. Included in the kit are springs, valve seals, titanium retainers, and spring seats.

    Seat Pressure Front View
The Comp 26921 dual springs feature Super Clean steel alloy material that meets stringent metallurgical standards for purity and tensile strength. Suitable for race applications, the dual valvesprings provide an extra measure of protection on high-lift applications over a single spring. The Comp dual springs feature an open-spring pressure of 400 pounds at 1.220-inch height, with 135 pounds seat pressure at 1.770-inch installed height. Stock LS1 springs are rated at 75 pounds of seat pressure and 250 pounds of open pressure, and only 0.525-inch lift. Since the camshaft selected will only measure out to 0.581/0.588-inch for intake and exhaust lift, we can rest assured that valve "bounce" or "float" won't raise its ugly head.

Comp Cam Push Rods Front View
Comp Cams Hi-Tech 5/16-inch one-piece pushrods (PN 7955-16, retail $146.34) are produced from seamless 4130 chromoly with thick 0.080 walls. In addition to being heat-treated and finished in black oxide, they have precision-formed ball ends, rather than factory welded ends. Factory pushrods are especially susceptible to "bending" on six-speed-equipped cars, which, when combined with a marginal spring package, often cause major problems. But the Comp pushrods don't exhibit "pushrod flex."
