Port Fuel Injection In A Day
Professional Products released its POWERJECTION II system for 326-455 Pontiac engines. It includes the intake manifold, extruded aluminum fuel rails, injectors, EFI fuel pump, pre-fuel filter, main fuel filter, Engine Management System (EMS), and all sensors. Also provided is a complete wiring harness, fuel pressure regulator, and a 1,200-cfm four-barrel throttle body (not shown).
Powerjection II is available in either a satin or polished finish and the throttle bodies come machined billet or cast aluminum. The EMS is a self-learning system that determines the proper air/fuel ratio after roughly 30 minutes of driving, and can still be fine-tuned, if you desire. Professional Products claims that this is the market's easiest port-style electronic fuel injection system to install and it can be done in a single afternoon. The price ranges from $2,100 to $2,600. Well-Oiled Ls1 Machine
It's a fact that the LS1 F-body oil pan design isn't the best for heavy high-g cornering. Long sweepers can effectively cause oil starvation, forcing many racers to add an extra quart of oil just to be safe. Improved Racing was well aware of this lubrication problem and set out to create a new baffle design that would keep the oil sump submerged under cornering, braking, and even drag racing.
The fruits of the company's labor come in the form of this Road Race Pan Baffle. Designed using the same principles as the LS2 Corvette pan, it has been tested and track-proven to increase the pan's ability to keep oil at the pickup. It allows you to retain the factory oil pan and not resort to an aftermarket item. The Road Race Pan Baffle also doesn't use trap doors, so there are no moving parts to worry about. Since it's constructed from aluminum, it even saves 1.3 pounds over the factory steel baffle. The price is $178. Improved Racing; www.improvedracing.com.
Old Vacuum, New Can
Classic Auto Air introduces correct-replacement A/C vacuum canisters for '67-'69 Firebirds. Low A/C vacuum, and even poor engine idle, can be the result of an old, rusted canister and bad check valve. Classic Auto Air's solution is a direct replacement including a built-in check valve that mounts to the firewall. It's easily attached with two 5/16-inch screws and accepts the vacuum line from the engine and the A/C vacuum harness. Since it's a direct replacement, there are no modifications needed. Just remove your old canister and replace it with this new piece from Classic Auto Air. The price is $70.
