Mast Motorsports
For the late-model, high-tech Pontiac crowd looking for something exotic and powerful, Mast Motorsports has a crate engine that takes the other-worldly performance found in the Z06 Corvette and packages it in a format that is not only compatible with other LS-engined Pontiacs, but also lends itself well to swapping into older cars. It's an all-aluminum 427ci LS7 that deletes the difficult-to-package dry-sump oiling system and substitutes it with a more conventional wet-sump system.
Before you go off and dismiss this engine as just another Chevy powerplant, keep in mind that GM Powertrain, not Chevrolet, developed this engine and it is an engineering tour de force, using the latest structural, cylinder head, induction, and engine-management technology. With 650 hp in a package that weighs 458 pounds, you have a recipe for success.
"It is definitely our most popular engine-we sell these at a 3:1 ratio over everything else," said Brian Divis of Mast Motorsports. It's a compact package with 650 hp and an 18-month warranty. How can you go wrong?
