Texas Speed & Performance
Texas Speed and Performance has emerged in the last few years as one of the premier LS engine builders in the country, and it boasts an impressive line of engines for most performance levels and budgets.
This time around, we're looking at an engine that delivers a lot of horsepower for the money, and best of all, it makes use of a lot of regular production hardware. While some may think this could compromise quality, it is a testament to the high quality of the factory parts.
Starting with a new LQ9, 6.0L cast-iron truck block, TS&P adds a set of L92 rectangular port heads, Wiseco pistons and rings, a Callies Compstar forged 4.00-inch-stroke crankshaft, and Callies Compstar connecting rods with ARP 2000 rod bolts.
With 670 hp and 600 lb-ft of torque and with a starting price of under $7,000 for a long-block, this engine ranks as a killer horsepower-to-dollar performer.
