Zex Perimeter Plate Nitrous System Install Sediment Build Up
|
Racetronix and the service industry recommend removal and cleaning of the fuel tank to remove sediment buildup before installing a new pump. While not always visible to the naked eye, sediment affects pump performance and may cause pre-mature failure. Therefore, using the “trapdoor” method of cutting a hole in the hatch floor to access the top of the tank to swap the pump is not recommended. Cutting a trapdoor can also lead to fume pocket ignition, severed wires/fuel lines, and fumes entering the vehicle if the area isn’t properly resealed. (Racetronix recommends watching the educational videos on fuel pump installation, service, and diagnosis at www.fuelpumpinfo.org.) To access the pump in the tank, Chris loosened the retaining ring with a few light taps on a screwdriver. View Related Article
