Pontiac engineers refined the intake and exhaust ports to promote maximum airflow. As seen in this photo, the use of pressed-in valve guides allowed engineers to remove material normally cast around the guides to maintain constant port dimensions. Note the uniform port shape with a ported appearance in stock form. A typical unmodified SD intake port is capable of flowing nearly 240 cfm at 0.550 inch lift. View Related Article
